In the development proces of polymer based
Carbon Release Plates (CRPs) the differences between batch
and fed batch conditions at small scale fermentations are countered.
The release of Carbon substraten (e.g glucose, lactose) in the fermentation
medium enables fed batch growth at small scale volumes. Resulting
in continued production of protein of interest during the incubation
period.
Increased production ensures the possibility
of screening large amount of samples at small scale.
The use of different polymers and substrate
concentrataions in the matrices ensures flexibility in use of the
plates.
Slow release plates are adapted for use in high through-put equipment
(e.g. Biomek robotics)

Feed-Cones were originally designed to facilitate
the release of carbon sources in large scale flask fermentations.
Additional benefit of the use of Feed-Cones was found in these experiments
improved aeration in the shakeflask fermentations. Improving the
productivity of the tested strains.
